TIANA BIRRELL

PAINTING AND MIXED MEDIA

Tiana Birrell’s work examines topics about place and displacement and the complex networks around water in the West’s arid climate. Her artistic practice is influenced by the nuanced interactions between humans and non-humans and her paintings attempt to illuminate these watery intricacies. She recently spent a year as an artist in residence at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art which culminated in her exhibit “the weight of a cloud,” a multi-media installation featuring video, photography, sculpture, and performance art.
